Faces of Weston with Mariana Nava

This month we decided to do something a little different.  Instead of getting to know one of our fantastic members, we thought it would be fun to learn more about one of our amazing team members at Lakeside Executive Suites.

Recently, we sat down with our community manager, Mariana Nava, who is excited about her baby boy due in October, to learn what she does in her free time, her passions, why she joined our team and the best advice she has received.

What are somethings that you do every morning to get yourself ready for the day?

I have a big bowl of cereal while I hang out with my two loving puppies, which gets me in a great mood to go on with my day.

What are you currently watching on Netflix?

Money Heist Season 3, which is about the planning of grand theft and this time, they want to take the gold from the Bank of Spain.

What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?

Well, I would say singing, but I’m very shy, so I don’t do it in public. However, I auditioned in Latin American Idol when I was 16 years old, which was an awesome experience.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I like to read fiction, play with my puppies, crochet and watch TV with my husband.

What are you passionate about?

Reading and writing. I have a bachelor’s in Journalism with a minor in English, and that’s what made me fall in love with literature.

What energizes you at work? What drains you?

I’m always energetic at work because there are always things to get done, and also, the staff and members make it easy for me to enjoy my day.

Why did you decide to join the team at Lakeside?

Because the environment they have created is amazing. My manager, Ysel, and my coworker, Millie, always find ways to make it fun for everyone every day.

What’s one thing that surprised you about working at Lakeside?

That our manager was so much fun! We always think that managers are a little tough, but Ysel cares so much about her staff and help us out in every way she can. She still coaches us when needed, but she does it, so we learn and improve instead of making us feel bad if we did something wrong.

If you can add one thing to the Lakeside office, what would it be?

I think we have everything we need right now! We have great customer service, amazing members, fun monthly events and lots of coffee (although I don’t drink it, I’m sure the office wouldn’t be the same without it).

What’s the best piece of professional advice you’ve ever received? Never take anything personally when working in customer service because most of the time, it’s not about you. I’ve worked in customer service since I was in college, and it has helped me develop a lot of patience, which benefits me not only at work but also in other areas of my life.
