Weston is better known as a suburban family town, but it is also a major business center. Cleveland Clinic Florida has its home in Weston, and so does Ultimate Software. There are several factors by which a company can be ranked but few are more coveted as the best company to work. Well according to a recent Fortune’s list our neighbor, Ultimate Software gave several major companies a run for their money.

Ultimate Software ranked No. 1 in Florida and in the top 10 nationally on Fortune’s list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For 2013.

The Weston-based developer of people-management software jumped to the No. 9 spot from No. 25 in 2012. Ultimate Software offers employees a free vacation every two years and covers 100 percent of health care premiums, according to Fortune.

Two-thirds of a company’s score is based on responses to an anonymous survey sent to 1,664 randomly selected associates in the U.S. and the remainder is determined by a thorough evaluation of the organization’s overall culture, according to a news release.

Deerfield Beach-based JM Family Enterprises also ranked on the list. The nation’s largest Toyota distributor fell to No. 32, from No. 17 in 2012.

Miami-based Baptist Health South Florida is the third tri-county company on the list at No. 76. It too fell on Fortune’s 2013 rankings, from No. 42 in 2012.

Other Florida companies on the list were Darden Restaurants (No. 65) and Publix Super Markets (No. 77).

Google topped the list, followed by SAS, CHG Healthcare Services, The Boston Consulting Group and Wegmans Food Markets.
